Young Latina Comedian Impresses 'America's Got Talent' Judges With Donald Trump Joke
Lori Mae Hernandez, a young stand-up comedian from Lancaster, California, wowed the "America's Got Talent" judges and audiences with her comical take on job qualifications.
In her audition, which aired on June 14, the 13-year-old compared her qualifications for being a babysitter to Donald Trump's qualifications for president of the United States.
"My only qualification to be a babysitter is that I used to be a baby," she joked. "That's crazy. That's like saying, ‘Hey, you're sick a lot. Do you want to be my doctor?' Or, ‘Weren't you the host of a reality show? You want to be president of the United States?'"
The preteen explained that she began doing stand up comedy when Bell's palsy, a condition that causes muscle weakness on half of the face, made it harder for her father to smile.
"I was terrified. But my goal was to make him smile," she explained. "I started writing jokes for him. He just sat there and listened to them, every day for a year. Then one time I told him a joke and he smiled. It was like I had my dad back again."
