App Spotlight: Top iOS and Android App NBA Gametime Playoff Edition Gives Easy Access to News, Stats and Brackets
Kevin Durant may be the new MVP, but his season will be forgotten if he doesn't take OKC to an NBA Finals victory. In fact, many NBA ballers have a legacy to forge, construct, add to or damage during the 2013-2014 NBA Playoffs. What better way is there to follow them in their pursuit of playoff glory than with the official NBA Gametime Playoff Edition App?
This isn't an overly designed, flashy app. NBA Gametime clearly was designed with one thing in mind: Connecting league fans with the latest playoff basketball news. Furthermore, the app offers comprehensive player and team breakdowns, tipoff information, exclusive video and high quality sports journalism all in one place.
As the app is optimized for the playoffs, you won't be reading any stories about whether or not Carmelo Anthony will be leaving the NY Knicks in free agency next season. His team didn't make it to the knockout rounds, and frankly any news about non-playoff teams is just filler talk.
One of the neatest features of NBA Gametime is its interactive playoff bracket. You can clearly see rounds one through the NBA Finals laid out in a visually pleasing manner. Realtime updates are reflected on the matchup boxes (i.e. Pacers vs. Wizards Game 3 tonight at 8PM ET) and are unobtrusive.
Other neat features include divisional and conference standings with percentage, games back, win streaks and other pertinent team information. This information is of course readily available on sites like Basketball Reference and ESPN, but the Gametime App presents these stats in a nice package.
While the App is free, some functionality is unfortunately locked for non-NBA League Pass subscribers. Those that do choose to pay for the service (which has a variety of complex pricing tiers) get access to a plethora of classic NBA games including the legendary Celtics-Knicks battles of the 70s. And of course you'll be able to watch your favorite teams (with some exclusions) all season long.
