2014 NHL Playoff Schedule, Standings, Weekend Predictions: Second Round Playoff Action Continues
For hockey fans, there's nothing like the NHL playoffs. This weekend fans are treated with six NHL playoff games that will determine the second round.
Friday, May 9
New York Rangers at Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins lead the series 3-1, so here's their chance to end the series and advance to the third round. The Rangers won the first game in overtime 3-2, but the Penguins have dominated ever since winning three in a row. In order for the Rangers to advance, they must win three straight, including winning in Pittsburgh. Game 4 will be played at the CONSOL Energy Center at 7:00 p.m. EDT on NBC.
Chicago Blackhawks at Minnesota Wild
The defending Stanley Cup Champions Blackhawks will take their 2-1 series lead into Minnesota to play the Wild. After winning Games 1 and 2, the Wild dominated Game 3, winning 4-0. A shutout is definitely a good way to get momentum back in this series, especially at home. Game 4 will be played at the Xcel Energy Center at 9:30 p.m. EDT on NBC.
Saturday, May 10
Montreal Canadiens at Boston Bruins
What an exciting series this has been for fans. This is the most storied rivalry in sports history, with this being the 34th match-up between the teams in postseason play. The teams have traded wins with every game so far, and neither team has been able to win back to back. The Bruins will be playing Game 4 at home at the Garden against the Canadiens at 7:00 p.m. EDT on NBC.
Anaheim Ducks at Los Angeles Kings
The Ducks are in a bit of a hole, down 2-1, and they will be playing game three in Los Angeles. The Ducks did, however, win Game 3 in Los Angeles proving that they can defeat the Kings on the road. The Kings have been playing outstanding defense, only allowing six goals in the first three games. This game will begin 9:30 p.m. EDT on NBC.
Sunday, May 11
Minnesota Wild at Chicago Blackhawks
The time has not been determined for Game 4 yet. Either the Blackhawks will have a huge 3-1 series lead or the Wild will be tied 2-2 with the Blackhawks. If the Blacks have a 3-1 series lead, they will be just one win away from the third round. This game will be played in Chicago at the United Center and they will look to end this series on Mother's Day.
Pittsburgh Penguins at New York Rangers
This game may not be played at all. If the Penguins can close the deal on Friday in Game 5, they can get a nice long break. The Rangers must win Game 5 on Friday to force this Game 6 to be played at Madison Square Garden.
