The 5 Defining Moments of Cristiano Ronaldo's Legendary Career
Cristiano Ronaldo has now won all there is to win throughout his legendary career.
He has three Ballon d'Or trophies, 17 trophies for his club including three Champions League titles and now he has that shiny silver Euro 2016 trophy to cherish.
Throw in his goalscoring records, including six straight seasons scoring 50 or more goals, and you have one of the best of all time. But which rank among Ronaldo's finest achievements? Here is a look at the best of the best from Portugal and Real Madrid's best.
5. The 2011 Copa Del Rey Final
Real Madrid entered the 2010-11 season struggling to overcome Barcelona. For the past few years it was all about Blaugrana and Real was always going to be second-rate. Ronaldo made sure to end that dominance by scoring the winner in the Copa del Rey final and giving Madrid its first trophy with him in its ranks.
4. The 2007-08 season
Ronaldo had his best season with Manchester United in 2007-08 when he won the Premier League and Champions League title, his first ever. Ronaldo led the tournament in scoring with eight goals, including a crucial goal in the final. He also had his best ever output in the Premier League, scoring 31 goals and 42 overall for Manchester.
3. The 2012 La Liga Title
The only Spanish League title that Ronaldo has won with Los Blancos comes down to him. He was dominant throughout the 2011-12 season, scoring a whopping 45 goals, including the winner in Barcelona in the Spring that ultimately gave his side the lead it would never relinquish.
2. La Decima
Ronaldo was brought to Real Madrid to win the Champions League. He did it, scoring 17 goals throughout the tournament, including nine in the group stage to lead Los Blancos to the promised land. He was particularly vital in the quarterfinals as Madrid banished the demons of a year earlier against Borussia Dortmund.
1. 2016 Euro Championship
Is it the defining moment for Ronaldo? Quite possibly. He did not participate in the final, but this was not of course his fault. Injury threw him out of the most important game of his career and he wound up getting the trophy. But no one can take away the way he led them to that moment. Whether through goalscoring in crucial matches (every Ronaldo goal or assist was vital in this tournament), defense against Croatia, pushing Joao Moutinho to take a penalty or even screaming from the sidelines. His teammates have attested to the influence he had on them in this moment and now he has achieved something no one thought possible.
