‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Latest Rumors, Release Date, and Official First Trailer [VIDEO]
Fans have been waiting to watch the premiere of “Sherlock” Season 4 for what feels like ages and they will just have to wait a little longer.
“It’s not a game anymore, ‘Sherlock’ Season 4 coming in 2017,” reads the status on the show’s Facebook Page, including a video of the first trailer.
“LIFE IS WHATS HAPPENS WHILE YOU WAIT FOR THE NEXT SHERLOCK SEASON (But it’s worth it),” Facebook user Lucas Seimandi commented under the video.
Another Facebook User, Firat Topal, commented about the show’s new action-packed scenes where Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) was chased by a helicopter and fired shots at an enemy.
“Is it only me or Sherlock is kind of evolving to a Hollywood thriller with explosions and police operations,” Topal comented. “I did not like what I see from the trailer. They have wonderful stories to be adapted with some flexibility.”
Showrunners Talk Sherlock Season 4
Executive Producer Sue Vertue tells Nerdist that the series makes her laugh and cry and if she could use one word to describe the upcoming series it would be, “Amanda.”
Vertue was referring to the actress Amanda Abbington who plays Mary on the show. Abbington joined the team in talking about Season 4 where she revealed that she feels that Mary should go out in the show, the same way she went out in the book.
Yet, show co-creator Mark Gatiss remained tight lipped about the next season teasing the crowd by summing up his one word to describe the next series as, “Broadcasted.”
“If I told you I would have to kill you,” Gatiss said about leaking any spoilers for the show.
“Good things come to those who wait,” he added.
Will There be a Third Holmes Brother?
Based on the last episode of Season 3, Nerdist asked if there would be a third Holmes brother in Season 4. Showrunners said we will have to wait to find out.
Show co-creator Steven Moffat, who is also busy writing for “Dr. Who,” says if he would use one word to describe Season 4 of “Sherlock,” he would call it, “Terminal.”
Mary's Fate
Maybe there will be a third Sherlock brother. And maybe Mary will follow the same fate she had in the book.
Abbington said she describes the next season as “Devastating.” Will she stick around for the entire season?
Meanwhile, many Facebook users are practically begging showrunners to film more than six episodes for Season 4.
“That’s (6 episodes) not enough to sustain us for another three years until the second season comes out,” Facebook User Cody Purvis said.
The British drama series “Sherlock” returns for Season 4 in 2017.
