Portugal vs. Algeria Live Stream, Preview, Predictions for Olympics 2016
Portugal will look to consolidate its lead atop Group D at the Olympics when it takes on Algeria on Wednesday.
The Portuguese have had a terrific tournament thus far, taking down the two most difficult sides in their group with relative ease. The opener against Argentina was supposed to create the greatest obstacles and for 65 minutes it did. But in the 66th minute, the Portuguese managed their breakthrough and wound up with a 2-0 win.
The team then found itself down 1-0 just one minute into its game with Honduras. But two first half goals completed the comeback and Portugal came away 2-1 winners. Goncalo Paciencia has two goals in two games for the team.
Algeria is one of two teams eliminated from the competition after losing both of its opening games. The team was defeated 3-2 by Honduras thanks to some poor goaltending and then lost 2-1 against Argentina in its second match.
Prediction
Portugal plays for a 0-0 draw and clinches the top spot in its group.
Start Time
Portugal and Algeria kick off their match at 12 p.m. EDT.
