Lionel Messi's Barcelona and Sevilla will do battle in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday.

This is a rematch of the Copa del Rey final earlier this summer, a tight match that saw Barcelona come away 2-0 winners after Sevilla failed to capitalize on having an extra man for most of the game due to a Barcelona red card. Messi was the catalyst on both Barcelona goals. 

Sevilla will be playing its second game of the week as well after contesting the UEFA Euro Super Cup against Real Madrid on Tuesday. Sevilla held a late 2-1 lead in that match but wound up blowing the lead and ultimately losing 3-2 in extra time with penalties beckoning.

That was the third straight year that Sevilla lost that tournament.

Sevilla and Barcelona faced off in the Euro Super Cup a year ago, a match that ended 5-4 in extra time for Barcelona. M essi scored twice in that game. Look for Sevilla to avenge its early season troubles in this matchup.

Barcelona will of course be looking to take back the Spanish Super Cup after an embarrassing showing a year ago. The team was destroyed 4-0 by Athletic Bilbao in the first leg before settling for a 1-1 draw at home. Messi scored the lone goal in that game for Barcelona.

Barcelona will look to avoid the disaster from a year ago and will win 2-1 in the first leg in Sevilla.
