HTC One Verizon Release Date Rumors: Aug. 1 with Android 4.2.2
New rumors say the long-awaited HTC One for Verizon will finally be released Aug. 1 and come with the Android 4.2.2 operating system preloaded.
Relatively reliable leaker @LlabTooFeR is the one spreading the Android rumor, but he's right more often than not.
Of course, that release date is still up the air. Last month, Verizon and HTC confirmed the One will debut on Big Red sometime this summer, but that technically means Verizon has until Sept. 21 to release the phone.
Verizon is making big announcements on Tuesday, likely unveiling its new Droid Ultra and Droid Ultra Maxx phones. There's been speculation that the HTC One announcement hasn't come sooner so as not to spoil the Droid news.
Verizon promos for older HTC One phones also end Jul. 31, so it would make sense to unveil the One the next day.
The other option is Sept. 5, during the IFA conference in Berlin, but that puts the One up against the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Why debut an old device, even if fans are eager for it, on the same day as a brand new powerhouse?
The HTC One features a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch 1920x1080 pixel widescreen Super LCD 3 display, a 2300 mAh Li-Po battery, a 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" camera with enhanced low-light sensitivity with 1080p HD video, up to 64GB of internal storage and runs Android 4.1.2, (though the Verizon version may come with 4.2.2 standard).
