It's getting closer, the release of another iPhone. Now, some sources are predicting an August release instead of September. Here are some of the changes to expect for the latest iPhone.

Design

The phone will get bigger. It will be up to the customer if they want to choose the slightly bigger 4.7-inch model (4 inches was the former size) or an almost giant-sized 5.5-inch model. Either way, the new iPhone will be ultra-thin, maybe as thin as 6mm! The corners will be more rounded and less square. Three colors will be offered, champagne, silver and space gray. The phone, like the 5s, will use aliminum for the body. Sapphire glass will be used for the camera and fingerprint sensor.

Hardware Updates

The screen resolution will improve from the 5s. The 5s had a resolution of 1136x640, the iPhone 6 will get at least a resolution of 1920x1080. The A8 chip will be introduced for the newest iPhone. It will likely be clocked at 1.5 GHz.

The camera will get an update too. It'll be easier to stabilize pictures and the picture quality will be better. It's unclear how many megapixels the camera will be but 12 MP would be a nice improvement.

Software Improvements

It's almost guaranteed that the new iPhone will come preinstalled with iOS 8. iOS 8 could be unveiled in June at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in early June. 

Healthbook will be offered. This app will use sensors to detect heart rate, blood pressure and hydration levels.

Apple Maps will finally get an update. Its past version didn't allow transit directions, meaning those who rely on subways and busses had to download a third party app. They'll fix this and allow transit directions on the new version. The labels will be clearer too on the maps.

With Apple's recent acquistion of Beats Audio, a streaming radio service of some type is expected.

Release Date

Some say the 4.7 inch model will debut first in August and the 5.5 inch model will follow in September.

Price

Expect a $100 increase for the latest iPhone. So, if you're used to signing a 2-year contract and handing over $199 for the entry level iPhone, expect that to rise $100.
