"NCIS" crew members search for clues in a murder investigation, only to stumble across a bomb planted at the FBI Academy and a clearly established theft ring.

The entitled "Being Bad" episode airs Tuesday night, September 27 (CBS, 8 p.m. EST), and also finds series newcomers Wilmer Valderrama (Special Agent Nicholas "Nick" Torres) and Jennifer Esposito (Special Agent Alexandra "Alex" Quinn) still trying to find their way with their new crew members.

Torres' Struggles

While Torres holds the reputation of being a "lone wolf" and a history of largely working solo, he quickly finds that's not the way they do things where his new crew is concerned.

Torres was introduced to the cast in the season premiere when crew members tracked him down in Argentina, where he was masquerading undercover as Capt. Miguel Lorenza, after several family members were marked for death.

"He's going to be struggling a lot," Valderrama recently told TV Guide of Torres' adjustment to the "NCIS" way of life. "He's going to unfortunately have a tough time working and playing with others. He's been a lone wolf for so long that he's going to have ... a little bit of trauma and a little bit of post-traumatic stress that's going to be manifested in the way that he assimilates, and all of a sudden returns to some type of team."

Adjustment Period

Valderrama later hinted all the mystery surrounding Torres soon begs the question of if he will come to be more of a liability for the team than anything else.

"I think he'll feel a little bit of that," he said. "That's what's going to make this character so multilayered and complex and mysterious. We're going to keep him mysterious for as long as possible, because we're going to discover as we go, and we're going to experience through his struggle."

As for his relationship with Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Torres hints that figures to run hot and cold.

"It's complex, because in a way, Gibbs sees a lot of himself in Nick Torres," he said. "He understands the struggle. Without the job, Gibbs would probably fall apart. And for Nick, it's the exact same thing. If he didn't have this purpose, he wouldn't know who to be. So they can bond over that. They clash in the sense that Gibbs understands how to follow the rules and bend them when he has to, but Nick Torres would rather break the rules in order to get the bad guy."
