Manchester City Football Club Transfer Rumors: Sergio Aguero Denies Talks Linking Him to Barcelona, Real Madrid
Sergio Aguero expressed strong desire to stay at Manchester City after leading the club to their second English Premier League title in three seasons.
Aguero has been linked to several top-tier teams, but the Argentine forward reiterated that he is happy with Manchester City, and he is not planning to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.
"I'll be back next year even stronger to win more trophies," Aguero said via Sky Sports. "I'm so happy. It was an amazing moment to win another title."
Aguero was recently linked to Barcelona after fellow Argentina international Lionel Messi reportedly asked the club to make a run at acquiring the 25-year-old striker, who netted 17 goals in 20 Premier League appearances this season.
"Messi is close to striking a deal with the Catalan giants but has asked Barcelona to sign Aguero and offer goalkeeper Jose Manuel Pinto a contract renewal," the Daily Mail recently reported.
Aguero, who was also instrumental in City's Capital One triumph this season, has been linked to Real Madrid numerous times since making a big move to Manchester from Atletico Madrid three years ago.
But despite the strong interest from two of the most popular clubs in Europe, Aguero looked determined to win more titles with Manchester City.
Pablo Zabaleta, another Argentina international, expressed confidence that big things have yet to come for the Manuel Pellegrini-led squad.
In an interview with the Manchester Evening News, Zabaleta said that they should work harder in order to get a good shot at winning the Champions League next season.
"The Champions League is a competition where if you make one mistake, you are out," Zabaleta said. "The Premier League is different, it's week in, week out. You have 38 games and if you drop points, you have the chance to win the next game. We know how difficult it is to reach the final of the Champions League and win it."
Manchester City reached the last 16 for the first time in club history this season but was eliminated by a more experienced Barcelona squad.
