Samsung has finally unveiled the lid on its 2016 smart watch models and there's two devices, the Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Samsung Gear S3 Frontier. The Samsung Gear S2 will continue in the lineup but the new watches have all new features and comfortable additions.

Samsung Gear S3 Design

The Frontier is designed to look the valiant, active of the two. It has a jagged outdoor look and is aimed to beefy watch that performs well in any environment. The Samsung Gear S3 Classic, however, has a more refined look and elegant design to those who are looking for a luxury watch feel, reported by Pocket-lint

Both are approachable with conventional 22mm watch straps. The Frontier measures 46*49*12.9mm and weighs 62g. On the other hand, the classic has the same dimensions, although, it weighs marginally less, at 57g.

Samsung Gear S3 Hardware and Software

Both the models come with a 1.3-inch circular super AMOLED screen. The display used has a 360*360 pixel resolution. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass SR+

Samsung Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 classic also both run on a dual-core 1GHZ processor, 768 MB of RAM with that 4GB of internal memory.

The two new models of Samsung  have Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity and built-in GPS. However, the former can also be found with LTE or 3G support to work without tethering it to a smartphone. The watches come with wireless charging with 380mAh batteries.

Samsung's own Tizen operating system comes with the Gear s3 devices. Apple, iOS support systems is unlikely to be ready for the Samsung Gear S3 by the time the watches hit the shops

Release date and Price

At a special pre-IFA event in Berlin, Samsung officially announced that the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 classic models both have been confirmed for UK release. October is the strong possibility. Mobile Fun in the UK has put its pre-order prices ,which may be subject to change and lists both the classic and Frontier at 350 pounds (about $445,AU$585)

In the US, Samsung Gear S3 Frontier will be available at most major retailers including Amazon, Macy's,Best Buy and Samsung.
