The spinoff to "How I Met Your Mother," "How I Met Your Dad," will not air on CBS.

Disagreements with the producers led CBS to not pursue the show. The show had already shot a pilot episode, but CBS asked them to shoot another one.

CBS couldn't promise that the second pilot would guarantee them a spot on the network. When producers learned that, they didn't bother shooting the second pilot.

"There were elements on the pilot that didn't work out," CBS' Nina Tassler said to the media Wednesday morning. "We tried to work out about redoing the pilot. That's not happening right now. Sometimes you run into these kind of issues and you hope they can resolve themselves in that time frame." 

CBS' option to pick up the show ends Wednesday meaning other networks can battle for the show starting on Thursday.

With the popularity of "How I Met Your Mother," a network like FOX or even Netflix would love to get this spin-off series. 

The spin-off show will be similar to "How I Met Your Mother" except this time the point of view will be from the mother. Like "Mother," it will be narrated. Although, this time around a new group of New York friends will hang out in MacLaren's Pub.

Starring in the new show will be Greta Gerwig, Drew Tarver, Tiya Sircar, Nick D'Agosto and Andrew Santino. It will be narrated by Meg Ryan.

Other networks have already shown interest in picking up the series, according to Deadline Hollywood.

"I'm heartsick; we loved this brand and we love the producers but it didn't work out," Tassler said. He added that CBS felt that "repiloting was in the best interest of protecting the creative elements of the show." 

It's highly likely that a network will pick up "Dad." Even though CBS has until midnight Wednesday to make a last minute bid for the show, the producers have already begun showing the program to other networks.

"It's funny. It shares the heart and soul with the original show, so it has the sweetness and the funniness," Gerwig told E! News in March.

Reports have indicated that the show's release date could be slated for the fall, but nothing seems to be confirmed.
