Samsung Galaxy S8 may launch in April after two-month delay
For the past three years, South Korean tech giant Samsung has been revealing its flagship Galaxy S phones prior to the annual Mobile World Congress trade show and revealed late in February. But it seems that the Galaxy S8 set for release next year will not be unveiled later than April after battery problems with the Galaxy Note S7.
According to Forbes, sources close to Samsung reported that its engineers still haven't identified the cause of the Galaxy S7 battery fires and the executives of the company are now seeing a delay announcement of the Galaxy S8. Presuming that it will be launched in April, it would be a two-month delay from the usual release day, and that would certainly spoil the drive Samsung had built with Galaxy S6 and S7.
Samsung tries to refocus the attention to the upcoming Galaxy S8 and even confirmed one of its new key features on Monday morning. Rumors suggest that the next-generation flagship will introduce a new personal assistant feature and will be based on Viv which is a technology that recently built one of the Siri's co-founder. The intelligent personal assistant it set to compete with Google Assistant, Amazon's Alexa service, and Siri, as BGR reports.
But first of all, the engineers of Samsung needs to figure out what went wrong with their Note 7's batteries. But right now, Samsung may face bigger concerns because the headquarter of the company in South Korea was raided by the government authorities after accusations that the company provides financial assistance to Choi Soon-sil a total of USD 4 million. Soon-sil has a major political scandal in the country that has led to mass resignation of the country's president's chief staff and 4 senior aides and has caused a mass protest.
Indeed, 2016 hasn't been a good year for Samsung, as its Chinese rivals are now looking an opportunity to enter the US market. Google launches its new phone and Apple is still improving. LG's V20 is a pretty good phone as well.
