'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them' reveals Dumbledore is gay
All throughout the seven Harry Potter books and eight film adaptation, the romantic life of Albus Dumbledore has never been revealed. J. K Rowling, the author behind the writer of the screenplay of Fantastic Beat and Where to Find Them previously told fans that there are of course gay characters in her magical world.
According to reports by Time, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is yet to hit theaters, and Director David Yates already confirmed that Albus Dumbledore will make an appearance. There is a lot of anticipation from the fans and leave them wondering on how Hogwart's most famous headmaster will be portrayed in the sequel to the Harry Potter spinoff.
During a 2007 book reading and Q and A at Carnegie Hall, there were some harsh truth revealed in the book about his past, but one of the biggest revelation about the character came out of the fiction when the author announced that Dumbledore was gay.
As per reports from Variety, who attended the press conference with the cast and crew on Thursday, Rowling said this might be the down line character for Dumbledore. Rowling also added that, she is comfortable with the question, as this is a five-part story and there's a lot to unpack in that relationship. Dumbledore will be seen as a younger man and quite a troubled man. He will be seen at his formative period of his life. And, as far as his sexuality is concerned...watch space.
Rowling has been a celebrity advocate for human rights, which includes LGBTQ rights. And, the visibility of LGBTQ in Hollywood film is still incredibly low. There were only 22 out of 126 movies released by a major studio in 2015 that had LGBTQ characters. It is expected that the first of the Fantastic beasts film will open on November 18. Fans are hoping that Rowling & co will not let them down.
