'Nuestra Belleza Latina' Host Alejandra Espinoza Overcame Nervous Tic After Insults
Alejandra Espinoza, the first winner of "Nuestra Belleza Latina," has beauty and a great personality, but for some that's not enough.
Espinoza discovered she had a nervous tic thanks to a malicious fan on social media who constantly reminded the star of her behavior.
"I learned from a frustrated fan who hated me and left malicious and rude comments that I was the victim of a nervous tic that I did not know of," she told TV y Novelas. "They said that they noticed a movement in my arm."
She said that she later analyzed herself on camera and saw that it was true.
"No one had ever told me about it or noticed it," Espinoza said. "Generally, the people that love you won't tell you, so this person that so criticized me ended up helping me."
She has made a habit of listening to constructive criticism and learning from it because, after all, her goal is to improve.
"I get something positive out of every comment," she said. "Even though there is destructive criticism that don't matter, there are others where you can read between the lines and get something positive out of it. Just like it happened to me."
The beauty queen attended People en Español's 50 Most Beautiful event earlier this week and spoke about wanting to show that Latinos in the United States are fighters and her partnership with Allstate for its "Viviendo en Buenas Manos" campaign, a forum where consumers can share their experiences and personal stories. Espinoza was recently nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her work on "El Gordo y La Flaca." She is also getting ready to host the final episode of "Nuestra Belleza Latina," where the winner will be crowned.
