Alec Baldwin’s NYC Bicycle Arrest Irritates Head of Hispanic Society
Alec Baldwin's bad attitude, defiance, and lack of obedience for the law has landed him in hot water with the head of NYPD's Hispanic Society, Dennis Gonzalez.
In response to Baldwin's bicycle incident on Tuesday, Gonzalez commented, "Shame on Mr. Baldwin for not having his ID. Does he expect special privilege because he's an actor?"
The NY Daily News reports that New York Mayor Bill de Balsio weighed on the incident with a more "lukewarm" response.
"I think it's unfortunate. I respect him, I think he has said some important and thoughtful things about this city over the years, but this is an unfortunate situation," de Blasio said.
"It's self-evident what happened and now we move on."
Despite de Blasio's suggestion to "move on," Gonzalez continued to slam the 56-year-old actor for his past altercations with the police and paparazzi, and also addressed Baldwin's disrespect towards Rosario Montero, one of the two police officers who arrested Baldwin on Tuesday.
"Officer Rosario Montero conducted herself in a professional manner. She should not have to tolerate verbal abuse from Mr. Baldwin," Gonzalez said.
He continued, "Mr. Baldwin stated the last time he was leaving the city because of the paparazzi. Maybe if he left this never would have happened."
So what exactly did Alec Baldwin do on Tuesday that sparked such a flood of hate from Det. Gonzalez?
On Tuesday, Baldwin decided to go for a bike ride in Manhattan, but the actor was reportedly pedaling in the wrong direction.
Two police officers, including Officer Montero, stopped Baldwin and asked to see identification.
According to police reports, Baldwin refused and began acting belligerently. Soon after, he was arrested and issued two summonses -- for riding a bike the wrong way, and for disorderly conduct.
"He's in street, screaming at her, spittle coming off his mouth. But the fact is he got treated like anyone else," said one witness to the Daily News.
"The guy went completely ballistic. He's not a nice guy. He was nasty, dropping F-bombs," said another witness.
Baldwin, on the other hand, seems to disagree. On Tuesday, Baldwin posted on Twitter that Montero was lying about her claims that he had acted disrespectfully. His tweet was later deleted.
Now that he's got the NYPD and Mayor against him, it's safe to say that Baldwin should lay low for a while.
