'The Legend of the Blue Sea' gets 16.3% ratings in debut episode, beating 'Descendants of the Sun'
November 16 saw the premiere of the comeback series of Lee Min Ho, titled "The Legend of the Blue Sea," with his leading lady Jun Ji-Hyun. Three days before the airing of its first episode, the lead actor held a video conference via Naver's V-app and interacted with his fans.
According to Lee, the reason why he chose the SBS drama "The Legend of the Blue Sea" as his comeback project is because it is written by Park Ji-Eun, the writer of some big hit dramas in Korea including the recent drama, "Producer," and the 2013-2014's "My Love From The Star," Yibada has reported.
The last appearance of the actor on a small screen was three years ago in "Heirs." In his recent interview, the actor revealed that he is nervous and excited at the same time to see how everyone responds to his new drama.
Allkpop reported that on the first episode of the anticipated comeback of the Korean heartthrob "The Legend of the Blue Sea," they received a 16.3% rating according to Nielsen Korea. According to SBS, "This drama received much attention from the press even before it aired," and continued, "We are happy that it received such a great response after the release of the first episode."
The first episode ended on a good note. It is remembered that during one session, Lee quoted saying that he hoped he would get over 30% ratings. He then added, "It would be nice if we got about 12 to 13% for our first broadcast." Fans did really enjoy the premiere episode of the drama.
The series beat "Descendants of The Sun" by 2% - the hit series starred by Song Joong-ki scored a 14.3% in its first episode. A lot of people have said that the drama will be a hit due to its interesting story, apart from the fact that Lee and Jun serves as the main characters.
