'The Predator' won't be a mere reboot
"The Predator" has been a dormant franchise since 2010, led by Topher Grace and Andrien Brody. After six years later, there are talks of "The Predator"- a reboot of the 'Predator" alien franchise. In 1990, Fox released "Predator 2" and "Predators" in 2010 as well as crossover films with the Alien franchise, "Alien vs. Predator" (2004) and "Aliens vs Predator: Requiem" in 2007.
Shane Black is taking the charge of director and co-writer. In the original 1987 franchise movie, he appeared as Hawkins in the movie. He has made his way in directing and made fame in directing adventure/action genre. Along with him, he will have a co-script writer Fred Dekker of Robocop fame. He made a great accomplishment as a director for Iron Man 3 salvaged a Marvel hero as reported by cheetsheet.
Black added that, what he is interested in the idea of inventive sequels and the the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button as told to Cinema Blend.
With regards to the cast, there are no official reports yet. But, Arnold Schwarzenegger is in talks to head up the cast in the forthcoming movie. Black is keeping the details all a secret keeping the fans awaiting in nostalgia.There won't be a reboot like the 1980s/90s franchise, and this time it will take a different tact.
Throughout the years, the time period of all the movies in Predators franchise varies. Looking at Alien vs predator, the time period painted a picture of millennia old struggle between two warring monsters. And, The Predator will be no exception, it will be set in the present day. It would be set in 30 plus years after the events of the franchise. The release date is to be set on March 2, 2018 and the fans are patiently but anxiously waiting.
