'New Mutants' Movie Update: Paper Town’s Nat Wolff is considered for role of Cannonball
20th Century Fox's superhero film, New Mutants, has been in development hell for many years now, but suddenly, the pace picked up and lots of news have surfaced. Aside from news that it will be produced by X-Men producer, Simon Kinberg, the film has a definite release of 2018 Spring, following Deadpool 2. Nonetheless, latest information involve an upcoming star to be tapped on the role of Cannonball.
According to Comic Book, Nat Wolff, known for his works in Paper Town, The Fault in Our Stars and Stuck In Love, has been considered by director Josh Boone as one of the characters in the film, Sam Guthrie or Cannonball. For those unfamiliar with comic character, Cannonball is one of the pioneer of New Mutants, which is a younger version of the current X- Men team. Cannonball is known for his powers of flight in high speed, hence, his name. The character is currently member of the off-shoot Avengers.
A little more about the film is revealed by Slash Films in their article wherein the New Mutants, consisting of Cannonball, Magik, and Wolfsbane, will team up to fight Demon Bear, a magical and huge villain bear. Further, it was detailed that the New Mutants will take up the horror movie in style of Stephen King.
Other actors considered to take part in the film are Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones as Wolfsbane and Anya Taylor Joy from The Witch as Magik. Now, Nat Wolff comes in play and this would be his second collaboration with director Josh Boone. Nonetheless, these are just rumors and Fox is still in the process of confirming such news.
