Apple has pulled the latest Apple watch operating system update; watch OS 3.1.1 from circulation after a launch of earlier this week due to reports of it bricking devices.
According to MacRumors, the new Watch OS 3.1.1 update is bricking some series 2 Apple Watch models. The following iOS Watch app now reporting that watch OS 3.1 is the most recent version available. This thing, making it impossible to perform update
The users are affected by the failing install and that would be led through the process. That ultimately presented with a screen showing a red exclamation point, that instructing users to visit Apple's help site for Apple Watch.
Apple's support page, which was most recently updated in November, instructs users to perform a force restart by pressing down and holding both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds. If that doesn't help, Apple's remedy is to send the device in for repair.
But the recovery process supposedly requires access to the Apple watch diagnostic port. The store of the Apple Company is collecting affected units and sending them out for service.
The cause of Apple's Watch OS 3.1.1 problems is still unknown. The issue is primarily affecting Apple Watch Series 2 devices. IOS 10.2 and TVOS 10.1 were released with a variety of bug fixes and performance improvements. Still now, this is unclear of how many users have had their devices bricked by watch OS 3.1.1.
