Chelsea vs. Newcastle United Live Stream, Score, Preview, Prediction: Premier League 2013-14
Chelsea will look to keep pace with Arsenal for first place in the Premier League when it takes on Newcastle United on Saturday.
The Blues sit in a tie for second place with Manchester City in the Premier League race. More importantly, with 53 points on the year, the team is just two behind Arsenal for first in the entire league. Arsenal is taking on Liverpool on Saturday at Anfield where the Reds possess a record of 10 wins, one draw and one loss. Any loss of points by Arsenal, especially in a loss, would enable Chelsea to potentially finish atop the league by the end of Saturday.
"We are improving. In this moment (last season) Chelsea were outside of every possible race and struggling to get a top-four position to play Champions League," said manager Jose Mourinho, according to ESPN. "I see the boys enjoying the situation very much and that's what I want them to do."
Of course, the team needs to take down a Newcastle side that defeated Chelsea 2-0 at home back in November.
The match could also be the first one featuring Mohamed Salah; the Egyptian was acquired in January as a direct replacement for Juan Mata. He was an unused substitute against Manchester City on Monday.
Newcastle sits in eighth place with 37 points; the team is too far away from the top five to have any hopes of heading to Europe next season. However, the team is already far enough away from a relegation spot to know that it will be back in the Premier League next season.
