This Smartphone Vs DSLR Comparison Is Sad Comparison
Camera quality is one of the biggest differences between smartphones these days, users prefer good camera to be the first preference in their smartphone. If users are spending USD 600 on a phone, then they must expect at least half-decent photos.
According to YahooTech the Gap between the better best and the worst smartphones and big dedicated DSLRs is very much existent. Techradar decided to run a side by side comparison between iPhone 7, Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S7, LG G5, HTC 10 and Sony ZX. A Nikon D800E was also used as an unfair benchmark for all phones to aspire to.
The test pitted the different cameras against each other in a different scenarios, from action to landscape and portraits. To see the result please check the video below. The bottom line probably won't be a surprise.
ScoopNest says the Google Pixel beats out the rest of the best smartphone camera, Pixel's camera turns out to produce good results in term of landscape and portrait modes. The iPhone 7 was just behind the Google Pixel, iPhone 7 Plus was not in the comparison or else it would have given the best competition in the race.
The real surprise about the test wasn't the winners though it's for how bad the losers are. Some situations the LG, HTC and Sony phones were so bad that they are not even worthy for being in the list of USD 600 flagship, 2013 Moto G is much more better than these companies camera. The Portraits photo from the HTC 10 was horribly blown out, low focused and noisy. Where on the other side LG G5 was throwing unexpected colour and saturations varies from time to time.
The Smartphone photography is more about consistency, it's easy to use than anything else because most of the time people are on their smartphones and for quick and non-posed pictures smartphones are the best to click some awesome memories. Users shouldn't have to think about the lightings exposure and aperture when they need to take some random clicks.
In a way smartphones cameras are ultimate point and shoot and only iPhone 7, Google Pixel and Galaxy S7 Seem to meet the best criteria to be the best smartphone cameras.
Its foolish and pointless to compare smartphone cameras to DSLR cameras, as we know DSLRs are meant specifically for photography and they are highly equipped with sensors, colour balance and modes to click perfect pictures.
