Camila Cabello Clarifies Statement About Fifth Harmony's Exit
Girl group Fifth Harmony announced that Camila Cabello, one of its members, has left the group.
According to Billboard, the group posted a message on social media on Monday saying that after four and half years together, Camila has decided to leave the group and the remaining members Normani Kordei, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane Hansen, and Lauren Jauregui will continue as a foursome.
On December 9, 2016, during the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball tour in New York, the group planned to release its third album, as said by Kordei to radio host Elvis Duran. The girls are excited to have a new album released in 2017.
However, the group's statement was snubbed by Cabello, as reported by EW. Fifth Harmony originally posted a message saying Cabello informed her exit from the group through her representatives. But, Cabello regretted why the statement in the group's account was posted without her consent. Cabello said that the statement that the group was told about her exit through her representatives was not true.
Cabello continued that her other members know about her feelings that she wanted to pursue her solo career but she didn't have any intentions to finish things with Fifth Harmony. Other members also have their future plans.
On her statement, Cabello encouraged people to follow their heart to do whatever makes their heart pounds, adding that life is only once and money, success, and fame won't always make people happy. She thanked Fifth Harmony's loyal fans for being with them and supporting the group's journey.
Fifth Harmony was formed during the 2012 X-Factor USA after securing a third place. They released two studio albums, "Reflection" (2015) and "7/27" (2016). They have popular hits such as Worth It and Work From Home.
Cabello herself had a duet with Shawn Mendes on "I Know What You Did Last Summer" which became a hit reaching top 20 and collaborated on Machinegun Kelly on "Bad Things", that reached top 10 on Billboard Top 100. Her projects were considered a sign that Cabello was preparing to start her solo career and leave the group that brought her to fame.
