Billboard Music Awards & Fashion: Nicki Minaj Surprises, J-Lo Dons Donna Karan Dress, and Kendall Jenner Wears Shiny Pants
There was certainly a theme at last night's Billboard Music Awards: cutouts. The stars showed lots of skin at the award show, and some did it in surprising ways. On the red carpet, Jennifer Lopez wore a sheer burgundy Donna Karan dress, proving that more skin isn't always the best choice. We much preferred the slightly golden dress she wore to receive her award. Here are the other stars that made a good impression on the red carpet:
Nicki Minaj has really been toning down her eccentric red carpet style lately, and though she has worn black dresses with minimal makeup in the recent past, this Alexander McQueen dress is a knockout. Showing so much underboob is quite tricky, but everything else about the dress is so simple that it just works. We're hoping this new Nicki Minaj is here to stay because she really can make excellent choices.
Kendall Jenner may have gotten herself dubbed the new John Travolta for almost introducing the wrong group, but at least she did it in the style. The model chose an Olcay Gulsen jumpsuit that had a halter top attached to a pair of shiny pants. She looked sleek and stood out as one of the few women who chose pants.
Danica McKellar also some cutout action going on. The star, who was recently booted from "Dancing with the Stars," showed off her abs in this orange dress. She matched the minimalist tone of the dress by wearing little jewelry, and she finished the look with a beehive.
Jordin Sparks proved that a short sparkly dress can be enough. The singer wore a Michael Costello dress, which she accessorized with Neil Lane jewelry. It's a little more on the casual side, but she probably felt very comfortable throughout the evening.
Newlywed Kelly Rowland wore one of the night's most revealing looks by taking the crop top to new extremes. And she still looked fab. The singer also showed off her legs in a her high-slit skirt. We can't imagine many ladies being able to pull this off, but Rowland definitely did.
