Final Fantasy XIV Director Reveals Updates On The Upcoming Stormblood Expansion
Naoki Yoshida, the director, and producer of Final Fantasy XIV delivered the keynote address at the game's Fan Festival in Tokyo revealed numerous information on the upcoming Stormblood expansion of the game.
Red Mage Job Included in Stormblood Expansion
He confirmed that the most-awaited job of the game, Red Mage, will be parts of the other jobs included in the Stormblood release. Red Mage is expected to be a hybrid fight and high-ranged magic Damage Per Second (DPS) job. It will be using a bladed primary weapon similar to a rapier. It will also use a magical crystal medium. Red Mage will be able to combine magic into chains that can be achieved through its rapid positioning. Red Mages also has the capability of handling heavy damages by linking various spells and adding it up to the melee attacks.
Added: Swimming and Diving Abilities
Stormblood also introduces swimming and diving abilities to players in specific areas of the game. Whenever a player enters an accessible water body, he will be able to easily switch to the swimming mode. The default speed of walking will become the animation for breast stroke in the swim mode. Players can also use their sprint speed to crawl. However, the combats will not be available on the swimming mode. Adding on, the swimming mode also does not call for a lot of load time.
Beast Ananta, Primal Lakshmi, New Raids and More
Stormblood also introduces a new beast into the game. The beast is a snake-like that lives in the mountains close to Ala Mhigo and it is named Ananta. The beast is an expert in spells and gem craft. Also, the game introduces a new female primal. She is called as the lady of bliss named as Lakshmi. The keynote address also revealed that a new raid named "The Bend of Time - Omega" will also be added in the Stormblood expansion, while "Return to Ivalice" will be the name of the Stormblood alliance raid with 24-crew members.
Release Date And Pre-Order
Mr. Yoshida also revealed that the Nobuo Uematsu, one of the top composers in the world will be returning to compose the main theme of this Stormblood expansion. He said that the game will be tentatively released on June 20th, 2017. Players can reserve the game by placing their pre-order from January 24th, 2017. It is notable that the Final Fantasy XIV is available on PS3, PS4, and PC.
