Michael Jace Wife & Murder: 'The Shield' Actor Charged With Murder Following Wife's Death
Michael Jace has been charged with murdering his wife.
"The Shield" star who portrays officer Julien Lowe in the series is accused of shooting his wife, April Jace, to death at their south Los Angeles home on Monday night.
At about 8:30 p.m., police arrived on the 5400 block of Brynhurst Ave., in Hyde Park, and found April Jace dead, reports said. He was taken into custody on suspicion of homicide, but the investigation is still ongoing.
TMZ said that Jace called the police and said, "I shot my wife."
He was taken into custody Monday night and later charged with homicide, Detective Eric Crosson said.
He is being held on $1 million bail, and police said that he is cooperating.
Neighbors reportedly heard gunshots, and Jace stayed on the phone until LAPD arrived as he was instructed. He was supposedly home alone until his wife arrived with their children. A little while after, he allegedly shot her.
The reason why he shot his wife of nine years is still not clear.
Jace was born in Paterson, New Jersey. His age has been reported to be between 49 and 51 by different sources, though. He plays a cop on "The Shield" and appeared in 89 episodes of the show between 2002 and 2008.
Jace started acting in 1992. He has had roles in "Forrest Gump," "ER," "Planet of the Apes" and "Boogie Nights." He played Michael Jordan in a TV Movie in 1999. After his run on "The Shield," the actor appeared in "Nikkita" and "Southland."
He was previously married to Jennifer Bitterman, whom he divorced in 2002. He married April Jace in 2003, and they had two children.
