Arsenal vs. Bayern Munich Preview 2013-14: Can Arsenal End Munich's Undefeated Run?
Will Bayern Munich ever lose again? The team has been terrific in the German Bundesliga and has not lost in domestic play this season.
With its 13-point lead, few would bet against Munich at this stage in the game. The team has now gone 44 straight games without a loss in the domestic league and now the question is whether the team will ever lose again.
"We've got a 13-point lead over [Bayer] Leverkusen," said Franck Ribery in an interview with Bild, before cautioning against complacency. "But we have to stay focused. We are professionals, we are FC Bayern, we have to win every match. We must not wane."
Regardless, Ribery expressed confidence that the team could manage to finish the year undefeated.
"Of course, we can win the league undefeated," Ribery added. "But we must keep our feet planted firmly on the ground. And focus on us, win and have fun."
Aside from the Bundesliga, the team must also prepare for a big rematch with Arsenal in the Champions League. Munich defeated the English side 3-1 in the first game on the road of their matchup last season but lost 2-0 at home in the ensuing game.
"We will be ready [for Arsenal]. They are a difficult opponent," stated Ribery. "But we did a very good job in London last season, however, we made too many mistakes in Munich. We have to learn from that."
Arsenal, of course, is not the team it was last season. A year ago, Arsenal battled to finish in the top four in the Premier League. This season the Gunners are the top team in England's top league.
