David Moyes Fired News: Manchester United Manager Pleads for Patience Ahead of Juan Mata Transfer
Is David Moyes trying to save his position? The Manchester United manager recently asked fans to be patient as he rebuilds his squad for the future.
"I fully understand that supporters are keen to see us freshen up the squad with new faces, but January is a difficult month in which to bring people in," the manager stated, according to ESPN. "While we are actively scouting players all the time, a lot of the work we are doing now is preparation for the summer.
"If we can do any business now then we will certainly try to do it, but I will not compromise the standards required for a player that can come into this club and help improve it," he added. "We all know that our club is undergoing changes at present, but I have a clear path in my mind and I know where we are going."
United has struggled tremendously in 2013-14 and currently sits in seventh place in the Premier League. The team was recently eliminated from the Capital One Cup and FA Cup and is unlikely to take home a single trophy this season.
This is not the first time that Moyes has pleaded with supporters for patience. He has constantly asked for people to be understanding of the transition that his team is going through.
Moyes may have already made his big move of transfer window. Rumor has it that the club has offered a sum of 35 million pounds for the services of Chelsea star Juan Mata. Mata's inclusion could be a long-term solution for United, as the team looks to rebuild its midfield.
