Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb are calling it quits. "The Modern Family" actress decided to personally reveal online that the pair was breaking up.

On her WhoSay page Saturday morning, Vergara offered this explanation:

"Not that anyone should care, but in order to not give the press the chance to invent crazy and hurtful drama, I prefer to tell my fans personally that Nick and I have decided to be apart. We have been having too many problems with having to figure out how to spend time together and because of my work and now his, it's been getting worse and worse, not fun anymore. We are still very close but we believe this is the best thing for us right now."

Her busy work schedule probably didn't allow Vergara and Loeb to spend much alone time together. Currently, she's shooting a film alongside Reese Witherspoon in New Orleans.

Loeb, 38, is a businessman who developed the Onion Crunch, a fried onion topping. He's also dabbled in politics and acting.

Vergara and Loeb met in 2010 through mutual friends. They quickly developed their relationship. Six months later when Loeb was involved in a car accident that left him with a broken pelvis, Vergara helped nurse him back to health.

The couple broke up in May 2012 but got back together and became engaged only two months later.

Vergara was excited about a wedding after becoming engaged.

"We've only been engaged one year, and I have to plan a very big wedding. So it's going to be when I have time to not only to plan the wedding but then take time off after the wedding because it's going to be big," she told E! News.

Vergara has a 21-year-old son with her ex-husband Joe Gonzalez. Loeb was married to Swedish model Anna Pettersson, but that relationship ended in a divorce
