Several sources have reported that the release of the next generation iPhone will be sometime this month. As for the exact date, two possible options are surfacing.

According to rumors, the successor to the iPhone 5 will come in early September, most probably on its first week. The International Business Times reports that the iPhone 6 will make its way to stores on Labor Day (Sept. 2).  The report notes that the information is based on several sources claiming that the new version of the Apple operating system, iOS 7, will also be released within the same time frame.

However, other reports suggest a later date of Sept. 6 for the release of the new phone.

iFun, a German blog site, says the iPhone 6 will be launched on the first Friday of the month.

"The next-generation iPhone will be according to our information on 6 September come on the market," the blog post noted, as translated by Google. "This information can reach us from a very credible and serious source."

The report also confirms that two new devices will be released by Apple: the iPhone 6 (or what other site refer to as iPhone 5S) and the iPhone Lite (or what others call the iPhone 5C).

"In addition to that day, 'two new types of devices' to be available - and thus are not two different color variations or memory," iFun wrote in German.

While Apple has yet to confirm all the rumors about its upcoming devices, reports suggest the new iPhone 6 will carry a more powerful A7 quad core processor and will run on the new iOS 7. IBTimes also notes that the new smartphone will also be packed with new security features, including a probable fingerprint sensor. Wireless charging could also be among the new features of the new Apple phone.
