Zlatan Ibrahimovic Transfer to Borussia Dortmund News: Klopp Interested in Swede Joining Team
Could Zlatan Ibrahimovic be headed to Borussia Dortmund? Coach Jurgen Klopp is certainly entertaining the proposition.
Ibrahimovic joked during the Ballon d'Or ceremony about joining the club. In fact, he was caught talking to Klopp about moving to the club.
While it was an obvious joke (Ibrahimovic is tied to Paris Saint-Germain until 2016), Klopp thought that the gesture was interesting.
"Zlatan was certainly not serious," Klopp told Die Welt. "But the appreciation for our work, which was also in there, is 100 percent sincere. And I find that cool."
"If something got around in football that we have a good relationship between coaching staff and team, that's true," Klopp said, before noting that players around the world "want to be part of it."
Klopp's Dortmund is struggling in the Bundesliga in 2013-14, but managed to win its Champions League group and is still seen as one of the favorites to make a deep run in the tournament.
Ibrahimovic is actually the kind of target that Klopp would be looking for to improve his team. He recently lost forward Robert Lewandowski to rival Bayern Munich and is reportedly looking for a replacement. Lewandowski scored the majority of the team's goals, meaning that Dortmund could struggle offensively without him.
Ibrahimovic is the main man for PSG, but at 32, the team is likely looking to turn Edinson Cavani into its top scorer. This would likely make Ibrahimovic available. The Swede is still in top form and his physical play would fit in well with Klopp's fast paced and rugged style of play.
Should Klopp try to get Ibrahimovic?
