Former 'Friends' Star David Schwimmer Helps NYPD in Assault and Robbery Case
What a guy!
Forty-seven-year-old "Friends" actor David Schwimmer helped save the day in an NYPD assault and robbery case.
The New York Daily News reports that Schwimmer allowed the NYPD access to his home security footage in East Village to help build a case against an alleged robber who attempted to steal a laptop owned by one of Schwimmer's neighbors.
Reports also claim that as the robber tried to steal the neighbor's laptop, a fight broke out between the two men and later the victim was slashed.
"It started inside and spilled out into the street. There was blood everywhere," said a law student to the NY Daily News.
Thankfully, Schwimmer was not caught in the middle of the brutal fight, but his security footage was.
The cameras outside Schwimmer's 331 E. 6th apartment reportedly captured the tail end of the fight between the two men and the police are using the video footage to prosecute the perpetrator.
The guilty person in question is Newark native Ronert Rainey, 21, according to CNN.
On the day of the incident, Rainey broke into a man's apartment who lived next to Schwimmer. While Rainey invited himself inside of the apartment, the apartment owner was allegedly having sex with a prostitute.
The apartment owner eventually heard Rainey break into his home and that is when the fight over the laptop began.
In the midst of the fight, Rainey took the owner's box cutter and slashed him in the face.
Rainey has been charged with robbery, assault with intent to cause dismemberment and disfigurement, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal mischief, reports the Daily News.
The 26-year-old victim was sent to Bellevue Hospital to stitch up his facial cuts and is reported to be in good condition.
Although Schwimmer has offered up his video footage as a source of help, he has declined to make any statements about the incident.
