When rumors about Nintendo developing a hybrid console - that was first codenamed as the NX - surfaced way back in 2015, rumors of Square Enix possibly bringing "Final Fantasy XIV" to the upcoming gaming device have instantly circulated the web.

Today, as Nintendo is gearing up for the upcoming official launch of its Nintendo Switch console, the gaming company behind the popular fantasy role-playing video game is once again giving hints at the possibility of making the game available on Nintendo's new flagship.

According to The International Business Times, the statement was made during the "Final Fantasy XIV" Fan Festival held in Frankfurt, Germany this weekend. After talks about bringing "Final Fantasy XIV" to the Xbox One a few months ago, it seems that Nintendo's upcoming console could potentially be on the list as well.

Reports have said that one of the game's producers, Naoki Yoshida, discussed the possibility of its inclusion on the Switch during a recent interview, saying that the team's main goal is to bring the hit game to as many platforms as they could possibly can, as long as every version of the game is able to interact with each other.

Right now, the availability of cross-platform play appears to be the biggest stumbling block at the moment. According to IGN, the Nintendo Switch is due for release on March 2, 2017, and although "Final Fantasy XIV" won't be included in its official launch titles, there are a number of other launch titles that are surely coming on day one.

With that being said, many Nintendo and Final Fantasy Fans are still highly expecting the game to hit on the Nintendo Switch in the nearest future. But with updates being very minimal as of the moment, people need to take this news with a grain of salt.

"Final Fantasy XIV" launched way back in 2013 and is currently available on the PS3, PS4, and PC. The next expansion, titled "Stormblood," is due for release in June of this year.
