'Dragon Quest Heroes II' Update: New Explorer's Edition Features Wide Array Of Extra Weapons
Square Enix has recently announced in December 2016 that "Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End" would come to the U.S. in April 2017, but that release window only includes the PS4 version at the time. Now, Square Enix has officially confirmed that the PC version will be released simultaneously with its PlayStation 4 counterpart on April 25, 2017.
According to Digital Trends, "Dragon Quest Heroes II" will also receive a day one bonus dubbed as the "Explorer's Edition." This limited version of the game will be available to everyone who pre-orders from either the official Square Enix Online Store or on the PlayStation Store.
The main point of getting in early on the action is the chance to unlock 15 additional in-game weapons, some of which resembles some of the enemies in the game (including Slimes!). The Explorer's Edition will also offer a few other neat goodies, namely a reversible cover art and an adventure log.
PlayStation 4 users will also have an exclusive console theme, a costume, to go along with a "Healix the Hero" recipe that can be utilized in Dragon Quest Builders, the Minecraft-like game title that was released in October.
According to a report from Game Informer, the game looks to play as much like its predecessor, "Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below," but with one major addition that will separate it from the latter, online co-op. In this mode, you are able to team up with up to three friends to vanquish swarms of enemies across the seven kingdoms.
The Dragon Quest Heroes franchise is exclusively developed by Omega Force, a division of Koei Tecmo, which also happens to be the makers of the Dynasty Warriors series. Nintendo's upcoming Nintendo Switch console will also feature Dragon Quest Heroes I and II as a double pack at an unspecified date later this year.
