AMD's long anticipated desktop chipset is finally here. AMD's Chief Executive Officer Lisa Su recently uncovered the company's next-gen Zen technology driven Ryzen processors which, the chip giant stated, will directly compete with Intel's high-end chipsets. Currently, AMD only released three variants of Ryzen 7 series. But it has promised that more quotients in this series will be launched very soon.

According to PC World, the highest variant of Ryzen 7, dubbed as AMD's Ryzen 7 1800X, comes with a 95-watt part alongside 8 cores and 16 threads. It runs at 3.6GHz and will boost to 4GHz. The secondary variant, named as AMD's Ryzen 7 1700X, boasts a 95-watt board coupled with 8-cores, 16-threads and it runs at 3.4GHz and boosts to 3.8GHz.

The most primary edition of Ryzen 7, called as AMD's Ryzen 7 1700, consumes 65 watts and houses 8 cores and 16 threads and it activates at 3GHz, boosting to 3.7GHz. Besides the official revelation of Ryzen 7 lineup, AMD also announced that the series will also see Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 5 family of chips soon. Although, the company didn't reveal any sort of timeline or date for the official release of these processing units.

As per a report by TNW, AMD also challenged Intel with its Ryzen 7 flagships in terms of performance and pricing. Ryzen 7 chipsets, however, outperformed Intel's similarly matching flagships. To implement this in front of public existence, AMD utilized Cinebench benchmarking platform and compared each variant of Ryzen 7 chips with Intel's contemporary i7 processors.

Ryzen 7 1700X clinched victory against its evenly matched rival Core i7 6900K chip by proving 4 percent faster speed rate. Ryzen 1700 scored 46 percent better than its equivalent Core i7 7700K. Ryzen 7 top end version 1800X beaten its closest competitor Intel 1000 dollar chipset Core i7 6900K by 9 percent, along with a price tag of $499 which is actually the half of its rival.

Ryzen 7 1700X will cost a buyer only $399, whereas, 1700 will be retailed at just $10 dollar less than its upper variant; that is $329. All the chips are now available for Pre-order with major marketplaces like Amazon, Newegg etc. The first lot of shipments will be released on March 2.
