Las Palmas has a new Drag Queen. Sethlas stood out from all the contestants in their annual "Drag Queen of the Carnival" event as she came out dressed as the Virgin Mary complete with props and assistants. Madonna's "Like a Prayer" played as Sethlas walked with a huge crown over her head. That Monday night was Sethlas' chance to prove that anyone should never give up on her dreams since she has tried many times to get the title.

Sethlas' performance completely stunned around 6,000 people at the Santa Catalina Park, the Latin American Herald Tribune reported. The queen gave a one-of-a-kind performance as a crucified Drag Queen with a crown of thorns over her head. A spear was also on her side depicting Christ's agony on the cross. Most of the crowd found Sethlas' performance spectacular but others took to Twitter their negative reactions.

The new Drag Queen took social media by storm with comments saying that her performance was the best that they have ever seen in decades. But others weren't that kind saying that her performance could suffer consequences. There were comments wondering if Sethlas would do the same thing with Islam and some also thought that her performance was attacking the Catholic Church's stance on homosexuality.

After Drag Queen Sethlas was crowned, the crowd gathered for the mask party. According to The R Guide, Las Palmas Carnival is actually one of the biggest and the brightest events in Gran Canaria. There are live performances of popular artists, competitions, pageants and celebrations for three weeks. The carnival starts at the end of January or February and it depends on when Easter falls.

The 2016 Las Palmas Carnival started on January 29 and one of the highlights of the annual event is the Gala Drag Queen. Sethlas is the Drag Queen and there are also categories like Junior Queen and Dame Queen. Because this is a much-awaited event every year, tickets are usually immediately sold out.
