Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry had been dating for more than a year before the couple confirmed that they split up earlier this week. According to rumors, the split was preceded by "The Pirates of Caribbean" star not wanting to marry the "Chained to the Rhythm" singer.

It seems like Bloom didn't want to settle down with Perry and that's why the couple split up. An unnamed source told PEOPLE that the songstress realized "The Hobbit" actor's hesitation when she tried to take the relationship to the next level. Additionally, another source said that the relationship between Bloom and Perry was never serious in the first place and the more it progressed the more work they had to give.

Fans of the pair were surprised as the former couple showcased a picture of them being happy in love in the last couple of months. The outlet adds that Bloom and Perry celebrated the Christmas and New Year holidays together. The two also celebrated Bloom's 40th birthday last month as well.

The breakup between Bloom and Perry was confirmed after the two were seen together at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party. E News reports that they released a statement regarding the split which was described as them taking "loving space" apart and have mutually agreed to it.

Additionally, the "Teenage Dream" songstress tweeted regarding her split with the actor. On her Twitter account, Perry said that fans and bashers should adapt to a new way of thinking. She adds that two people who broke up can still be friends and have a lot of love for one another. The actress released the statement to quell the rumors regarding their break up.
