R-rated superhero movies or simply R-rated movies seem to be the latest trend. With "Deadpool" and "Logan" making big bucks, Warner Bros. is all set to walk the same path as Fox did.

According to Forbes, an insider has admitted to The Wrap that if right characters come up, Warner Bros. will consider an R-rated superhero film set in the DCEU. Not surprising seeing how Fox is making millions with their R-rated superhero movies, other studios will also attempt to follow suit.

Warner Bros. is not new to R-rated movies. Movies like "The Matrix Reloaded", "American Sniper", and "The Hangover Part II" are in top five R-rated debuts of all time. However, they are not DC comics' superhero movies.

The other two in top five debuts are Fox's "Deadpool" and "Logan", currently ranking at first and fourth, respectively. Rumors were rife that Warner Bros. is considering an R-rated "Suicide Squad 2" in future.

"Suicide Squad 2" could be the perfect candidate for an R-rated DC based movie. Since the plot is based around villains, the movie is automatically suitable for an adult population. 

Director David Ayer has previously teased the idea of a possible R-rating for "Suicide Squad 2". Another movie that can reach its full potential being an R-rated is "Gotham City Sirens".

Reportedly, Warner Bros. is also plotting a new DC superhero film based on the Batman-centric character Nightwing. Another great opportunity for Warner Bros. to play the field and make the movie for the more mature audience.

DC's Lobo is expected to land its own movie pretty soon. Lobo is an extremely dark character, prefers mindless violence and intoxication, and is self-centered and arrogant. A movie based on Lobo is basically asking for an R-rating.

As previously reported by Latin Post, "Logan" earned $237.8 million globally during debut weekend. The movie opened at No. 1 position in 80 of 81 markets.

On the other hand, "Deadpool" earned a massive $760 million at the box office. "Deadpool 2" will release next year and will feature similar violence, witty but profanity clad dialogues, and sexual innuendos, like the first movie.
