'The Matrix' Reboots For Warner Bros: Keanu Reeves & The Wachowskis Will Not Be Part Of Its Relaunch
"The Matrix" is back on Warner Bros. and Hollywood has changed it all for its own advantage as talks of different actors and production staff will take the lead of this iconic 1999 sci-fi movie. The original movie directed by The Wachowskis, Lana and Lily, together with their almost invincible actor of Keanu Reeves may not be part of what Warner Bros. is currently cooking. However, rumors are loud to voice out Michael B. Jordan to play the lead role while Zak Penn will do the writing.
Although there were two more movies after the blockbuster hit movie, "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions" was equally action-packed and has modernized visual effects and more précised bullet time. According to reports from Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is already starting the initial stages of its production following the initiative of "The Matrix" original movie producer, Joel Silver. Silver has approached the American entertainment company about the idea despite selling his interest in all his movies to the studio in 2012 for about $30 million.
With due respect to The Wachowskis who were more popularly connected to "The Matrix" than its producer, Warner Bros. was seemingly doubtful to include Joel Silver in the project. Along with The Wachowskis who had an edgy past with Silver, he has also some not-so-good reputation in terms of money-matters. Meanwhile, Keanu Reeves has already agreed on doing the relaunch of "The Matrix" but only with The Wachowskis, as he cannot imagine the movie without them, sadly.
Brainstorming about the reboot of "The Matrix" may have rooted from an inspiration on Star War's movies, as WIRED reports, that the idea of a young Morpheus may somehow emerge. However, making a reboot entails a heavy task to the story writer, like most of the fate of the current movie reboots like "Ghostbusters." Not only will it need a good story, but the special effects may demand a lot to level with the "bullet time" effect or more so to surpass it.
Trusting Zak Penn is worth a try, with his works in the "Alphas" and a few involvements to X-Men franchise and The Avengers, Penn is definitely ready to make "The Matrix" reboot. The expectation is higher now with the occurrence of more sci-fi movies and the advancement of technology as compared to the memories of the 1990's blockbuster movie.
