'Beauty And The Beast' Climbs To The Highest Spot As It Surpass Batman vs Superman At The Box Office
The "Beauty and the Beast" live action movie did not disappoint its moviegoers as it has already achieved the same spectacle from its animated movie in 1991. It has also received positive reviews and its actors in portrayal were truly amazing on their characters. The significant increase in its box office sales in just a matter of days from its release has already surpassed other movies like "Batman vs Superman" and "The Jungle Book."
"Beauty and the Beast" made a record-breaking $170 million in a span of three days, collected in almost 4,210 theaters in the US only, reports from EW. Last year, the Warner Bros. Pictures film was the top contender with $166 million on its initial days of release, "Batman vs Superman." Adding on, "The Jungle Book" did very well in IMAX' record for a PG-rated film with $20 million worldwide.
However, "Beauty and the Beast" made a promising rise in the Top domestic opening of all time for a film rated PG against "Finding Dory" which had $135 million in summer of 2016. In a recent report from Hollywood Reporter, the latest Disney film has also scored as the top opening of all time for a PG film internationally, first in China at $44.8 million and second at Emma Watson's hometown, UK at $22.8 million. It reached the seventh rank for the biggest premiere for a movie while "Ironman" is still at the third place with $174.1 million.
Roughly ahead by a mere $1 million difference with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow's - Part 2 at $169.1 million, "Beauty and the Beast" made a blasting start. Worldwide sales earned during the weekend were $180 million internationally, making for an estimated worldwide total of $350 million, which is the fourteenth highest ever. Starring Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as Beast, along with their enchanted house staff, Bill Condon's creation has truly captivated its audience of all ages.
