Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Tablet Price & Specs: Windows 8 Device Has Notebook-Sized Screen, Improved Type Cover
The Surface Pro 3 tablet seems to go along well with Microsoft's plan -- having a single device that can function both as a laptop and tablet. Priced at $799, the new tablet features a newly structured hardware and a more enhanced cover. Sadly, the Surface Pro 3 still will not persuade you to become a Windows 8 user due to the lack of app support.
Pros
- Bigger display screen
- New and stable Type Cover
- Longer battery life
Cons
- Still more expensive than a notebook
- No Free OneDrive cloud storage
- Uncomfortable Stylus holder position
Several reasons make the Surface Pro 3 tablet superior to its predecessors. It functions well both as a laptop and a tablet, and the 12-inch display screen is more than adequate for both purposes. The device is lightweight, making it easy to carry, although it is a bit on the heavier side for a tablet's weight at 1.76 pounds. There are fewer apps than a true tablet but the device is productive as a tablet nonetheless because of the big screen and stylus. The total price of $930 can be considered expensive for a tablet, especially when you consider that the starting price of an iPad Air is only $499 and the starting price of an 11-inch MacBook Air is $899. Still, you get a bigger touchscreen and a pen with the Pro 3 introductory price and a superior quality keyboard (the Type Cover costs $130) when compared to the Macbook Air.
