The Cleveland Cavaliers plan to hold veteran guard Kyle Korver out for at least three games to rest his ailing left foot, a team spokesman announced. The same spokesman also said that guard Iman Shumpert would not be playing tonight against the San Antonio Spurs due to a sore left knee.

According to Cleveland.com, Korver, who missed seven games earlier due to an inflamed tendon in his left foot, is going to stay off of it tonight against the San Antonio Spurs, as well as Thursday in Chicago and Friday back home against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Earlier Today, before the Cavs' decision, was announced where it was known only that Korver would not be playing in San Antonio, Korver said in a statement: "it's just not quite where it needs to be for me to play like I'm really being me. Everyone keeps saying we are going to play basketball for a long time. Get it right for the playoffs," Korver finished.

Korver is currently averaging 10.9 points and shooting 48.2 percent from the field for the Cavs since he was acquired via trade on January 7. He had played in three games after initially sitting out with the said foot injury.

The earliest possibility for Korver to return to action is on Sunday at home against the Indiana Pacers. At that point, there would only be seven games left to play in the regular season.

According to ohio.com, multiple Cavs' players have missed a total of 169 games due to injury, illness, or rest this year, and head Coach Tyronn Lue has said that he and the team needed this stretch run in order to set his rotations firmly and build some cohesion and team play among the team's new players heading into the playoffs.

The Cavs holding the no. 1 spot in the East is dwindling rapidly. If they lose tonight vs. the Spurs, the second-seeded Boston Celtics will take over the spot as having the best record in the East.
