South Korean singer, songwriter and rapper PSY is breaking records yet again with the song that started his initial rise to fame in the U.S., "Gangnam Style."

Less than two years since the famous song with the even more famous dance routine hit YouTube, it's already made YouTube history by hitting the 1 billion mark last year, and now it's reached the 2 billion views and counting mark on YouTube on Friday.

In celebration of the astounding feat, YouTube added cartoon dancing PSYs next to their view counter.

YouTube wasn't alone in the celebratory day; PSY also weighed in on his accomplishment.

"2 billion views...they are very honorable and very burdensome numbers," PSY said via a statement obtained by Billboard. "With appreciation, I will come back soon with more joyful contents!!"

PSY is already sticking to his promise to come back with "joyful contents" with the release of his follow-up single, "Gentleman," which also set a record for most views for a video in its first day on the site, Billboard reports.

So how many views did "Gentleman" actually get on its first day?

Worldwide, 18.9 million views.

PSY is definitely proving that he's more than just a one hit wonder as many people probably expected, so it's interesting to see what hit he comes up with next.

"Gangnam style was first released in July 2012. Since then, its reception from fans has undeniably skyrocketed.

According to Time, "Gangnam Style" was at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 for five weeks, then it spent 31 weeks on the U.S.-based Hot 100, with 7 weeks spent in the No. 2 position. The track also became the No. 1 song on 2012's year-end K-Pop Hot 100 chart and showed longevity in America, placing at No. 47 on the 2012's year-end Hot 100 chart and No. 55 on the 2013 ranking.
