Tito Torbellino Death: Narcocorridos Singer Tito Torbellino Knew Life Was in Danger Before Murder
Tito Torbellino knew that other narcocorridos singers were killed and he knew there was danger in what he was doing.
The trend started in 2006, and he was even asked about how he felt about the death of other singers and the dangers he faced. Torbellion admitted that "every job has it risks" but said that the important thing was not to get into trouble, reported La Universal.
However, somewhere along the way, something went wrong. Late last week, Torbellino was shot and killed when he was eating lunch.
Torbellino didn't just sing narcocorridos songs, which celebrate the glories of the drug trade. His songs were based in reality because he didn't like to make up stories. In some songs he said that he was the one who narrated the songs because he grew up in that environment. For others, he would use newspapers or the Internet as his source of inspiration.
Torbellino recently celebrated his birthday, and posted a message on Instagram, where he vowed to change his life in an oddly prescient message.
"Thanks to my children, family and my loyal fans everywhere thank you to everyone for your warm wishes and presents," he said. "I never thought I would get to this age. I promise to be calmer and not so reckless."
Torbellino was just starting to see success in his career, and he adored his four children. It seemed likely that he was ready to turn a new leaf.
Mario Quintero, of Los Tucanes de Tijuana, was in disbelief at how quickly Torbellino was gone, but he said that no matter what, Torbellino was not safe.
"When someone wants to hurt you, they will do it regardless of all the precautions you take," he said.
