iOS 8 Release Event & Watch Live Stream: Apple CEO Tim Cook Set to Announce iOS 8 at WWDC; What Should We Expect?
Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference starts today, June 2, and concludes on June 6. The conference is being held at the Moscone West Center in San Francisco.
The wildly popular conference has grown each tremendously over the past several years. Tickets for this years event sold out in mere minutes.
If you weren't lucky enough to purchase a pass and attend the event in person, Apple's got you covered. If you own an Apple device (or have Safari for Windows) you can stream the event live starting today at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. And like with all Apple Keynote presentation's this event will be archived on the companies website for later viewing.
What the big deal about this years WWDC? Well, industry analysts and pundits are expecting a lot of big hardware and software announcements. The MacBook Air may finally get the much ballyhooed Retina display while its bigger brother the MacBook Pro will likely get a customary spec bump.
On the software side of things, new releases like iOS 8 and a new version of Max OS X are expected to be announced. The latest version of OS X may be called Yosemite or El Capitan, according to trademark fillings.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that an 8gb iPhone 5s and a cheaper iMac computer would be shown during today's Keynote address as well. But Jim Dalrymple of The Loop, discredited Kuo's report.
The new iPhone 6 will also not be revealed at this event. Rather a separate September or October event will be held to introduce the new phone to the masses.
Arguably the biggest announcement people are looking forward to today is the release of iOS 8. According to Mashable, "iOS 8 will have a strong focus on fitness and health." Those features will be integrated into an App called Healthbook.
A new interface is not expected to be one of the new features. That means no widgets (again) and the same simple, yet slightly boring icon driven user interface.
