'The Voice Australia' Judge Kylie Minogue Takes to Twitter, Says Rumors of Her Leaving UK Record Label 'Parlophone' Are False
Australian singer, songwriter and actress Kylie Minogue was rumored to be parting ways with her U.K. record label, Parlophone, after 15 years.
On Sunday, The Sun reported that Minogue's alleged split with her longtime label was due to the lackluster record sales of her 12th album "Kiss Me Once," which only sold 60,000 copies in the U.K.
"The blame is being put on Parlophone for not promoting it as well as they could have, " said a source from The Sun on Sunday. "Kylie's team provided the singer with some of the best songs of her career. Kylie did everything she could, even agreeing to be a judge on 'The Voice' for a year, which is something she would have liked to avoid in an ideal world."
Despite The Sun's elaborate reporting of the split, Minogue went on Twitter on Monday to squash rumors that she was leaving Parlophone, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
"Whoaahhh... parlophone!! According to 'sources' we r 'breaking up'! Not true. Exciting times ahead!#LOVEu4EVA," she said in a tweet.
Even Minogue's local record label, Mushroom/Warner Music chimed in to clear up the false rumors.
"Kylie's record deal locally is with Mushroom/Warner Music. We are proud to represent her and don't plan to change that!" a spokesperson from Warner Music Australia said to the Sydney Morning Herald on Monday.
Minogue is currently signed to Warner Music in Australia and also has a deal with Parlophone in the U.K.
Kylie Minogue is currently featured as a mentor on the reality singing competition "The Voice Australia." She is also in the midst of gearing up for her Kiss Me Once tour, which will begin in England in September, moving through Europe before finishing in Switzerland in November.
