Flipboard Launches Latino Content Guide, Partnership with Mexican Publishers, and New Spanish Twitter Account
The social network application software and digital content magazine Flipboard launched a new guide for Latino-based content.
The U.S. Latino Content Guide is Flipboard's effort to make a one-stop destination to find news and publications popular with Latin audiences.
With the new content guide, Flipboard announced several partnerships with publishers for the purpose to attract "millions" of Hispanic readers. The partnership with the publishers enables readers to receive content from CNN en Español, CNET en Español, FOX News Latino, Huffington Post Latino Voices, Tu Tecnología, and Variety Latino, as well as Adrenalina360, ALT1040, Dinero en imagen, Esquire Latinoamerica, Excelsior, and Milenio from Mexico.
The launch of the Latino-based service also touched upon elements of the FIFA World Cup. Flipboard teamed with the Leo Messi Foundation, which offers support to the youth, to provide free access to the book "Messi: Choose to Believe," available in English and Spanish.
The new content guide isn't full of Spanish material as English content is featured at an approximate 80/20 mix, according to Flipboard. The content guide includes categories such as art, culture, fashion, lifestyle, news and tech as well as a "By Our Readers" section, which has magazines created by the app's users.

"Nearly 15 percent of our Flipboard readers in the United States prefer receiving content in Spanish, and there are many more Hispanics who read Flipboard in English," said Flipboard's Head of Hispanic Partnerships Joe Kutchera. "Our curators in Miami, in collaboration with our editorial team in Palo Alto, have put together a custom Latino Content Guide for this vast group of readers."
To coincide the Latino Content Guide's launch, Flipboard highlighted magazines based on prominent Hispanic public figures. CNN en Espanol's Ismael Cala has the "Cala en Flipboard" magazine featuring content based on his show and what he's reading. Fusion news anchor Leon Krauze, TV Azteca's Alfonso De Anda, celebrity chef Pepin and technology analyst Ariel Coro have also created their respective magazines on Flipboard.
Flipboard's footprint in the Latino market also included Twitter. The digital content magazine launched its Spanish-language Twitter account Flipboard Latino (@Flip_Latino) on Tuesday, with the first tweet, "Flip."
