Whitney Houston News & House: Fan Buys 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' Star's Mansion for $1.5 Million
The late and always great Whitney Houston may have been famous for singing her breathtaking rendition of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You," but it's her fans that will always love Whitney.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that 33-year-old emergency room physician and real-estate tycoon Matthew Krauthamer purchased the legendary singer's mansion for $1.5 million.
"The house in and of itself is absolutely stunning," Krauthamer said to Zillow.com "Wooded acres, gated property, two-floor pool house, two Jacuzzis. The house is really an incredible home."
Krauthmer, who claims to be a longtime Whitney Houston fanatic, also told Zillow that he has no plans to change the décor of the '80s-inspired home whatsoever.
According to Zillow, Krauthamer will simply give the house a fresh coat of paint and some new appliances to return it to its original '80s glory.
Upon purchasing the mansion, Zillow reportedly promised the Houston family that he would not exploit the singer's property to filmmakers that have approached him regarding filming the singer's mansion in Jersey.
For Krauthamer, the purchase of Whitney's house is to remind him of the kind-hearted spirit that Whitney Houston embodied all throughout her life.
"She got, obviously, some bad press at times, but one thing that she was was a very kind and generous person," said Krauthamer, "She took care of the people that were closest to her and that's something that's always stuck in my mind."
So what will Krauthamer do with his current home now that he's purchased Whitney's estate?
He will put it on the market.
Zillow.com reports that Krauthamer has listed his nearby home at 88 W Main Street for $1.349 million.
Krauthamer's estate is reportedly a castle-style home with a unique past: it is known as the Chapel Hill Manor, which was built in 1918 for former Mendham mayor William Cordingley.
The Main Street home contains 18 rooms and a 2,500-book library that has secret doorways.
