Trump Urges War Against Drug Cartels for Mexican Ambush that Killed 9 Americans
The President of the United States of America had offered aid to Mexico after urging it to wage a war against the harsh drug cartel "monsters." This act of President Trump was due to the Mexican ambush which killed 9 Americans on Monday, but Mexico rejects the war proposal of the US against drug cartels, believing it will only lead to more complications down the road.
According to a statement released by the White House, President Trump had offered "assistance" to Mexico through a phone call after the grisly Mexican ambush, which killed a Mormon family.
Trump posted on his social media account, "If Mexico needs or requests help in cleaning out these monsters, the United States stands ready, willing & able to get involved and do the job quickly and effectively. The great new President of Mexico has made this a big issue, but the cartels have become so large and powerful that you sometimes need an army to defeat an army!"
According to officials, there were at least 6 minors and 3 women who were suspected to be American citizens staying in an American neighborhood in the country of Mexico who were shot dead. The nine Americans were killed in a Mexican ambush in Northern Mexico. It was told by the officials that this group of people was killed during an ambush on Monday.
6 minors survived the incident. Five of the survivors were taken to a hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. One of the six is still missing. Meanwhile, the authorities are currently on a rescue mission for the one missing minor in the mountains of the Sonora-Chihuahua border area.
The people who were victims of the Mexican ambush were the members of the LeBaron family. They are members of a famous American bloodline who had stayed for decades in the northern neighborhoods in the country.
According to a report by the New York Times, the targets of the attack were citizens staying in the neighborhood with people living as a community branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Trump included in his tweet, "This is the time for Mexico, with the help of the United States, to wage WAR on the drug cartels and wipe them off the face of the earth. We merely await a call from your great new president!"
Despite Trump's words, Mexico rejects the war proposal of the US against drug cartels. In spite of the invite ad support on the war on drug cartels proposed by the United States of America to the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the Mexican President firmly stands ground.
Obrador replied to President Trump's invite, "The worst thing you can have is war... We declared war, and it didn't work... That is not an option."
Mexico rejects the war proposal of the US against drug cartels because of the disbelief that war was the solution to the drug-related problem of the country.
In the past, President Donald Trump had already expressed his high concerns with the number of gang violence and drug-related incidents in Mexico. He had also emphasized its effect on the security of the US-Mexico border.
During the summer season, the presidents of these two nations had taken cooperative measures to prevent the illegal immigration of asylum seekers. The Mexican President had also increased military assistance in monitoring and securing its northern and southern borders.
The cooperation of the two countries on the fight against drug-related concerns is still on going.
